More lights and a projector
Joy Films came in to the school over the Easter holiday to install more lights for the new lighting system in the hall and to fit a new and powerful projector. We're hoping that we might be able to use the projector for cinema screenings on several occasions throughout the year. We're currently discussing the possibility with CineGuernsey.
Shifting earth for the pond
Lenny, Mike Johns and Russ Hamon spent the day with helpers from the St Martins Floral Committee shifting soil from the States' Burnt Lane Depot to the pond at the back of the school's playing field in readiness for the children to begin planting around the pond.

The 2009 Quiz Night
The quiz night went off very well. Everyone I talked to had a fantastic time, although I found it hard to understand one or two of them by the end of the night (and it's not because I'm hard of hearing).
The raffle was a big wow as expected, hardly surprising as the top prize was a 4 person voucher to visit a massive list of major attractions on the mainland, worth an estimated £700. But the overall prize list was so huge that it was bound to be a big attraction.
With two very generous sponsors this year - Barclays and Specsavers - we already know that the profits will smash the previous record, but we'll have to wait to get the final figures in. We can't thank them enough.
All in all a really successful night and already people are asking if we can have another one. Patience, patience.
Thanks go to all those who gave including:
Specsavers
Barclays
Cimandis - for supplying the all the cheese, pate and trimmings.
Le Riche Group - for donating all the fresh French sticks.
All the raffle donors:
Merlin Entertainment
Blue Islands
Specsavers
Vets 4 Pets
Dunnell Robertson Partnership
Deloitte
Create Architecture
Reflections at La Villette Hotel
Fake It
Envy
Fitzgeralds
Avenue Flowers
Powercuts
Brouards Florist & Cooper Brouard
Mondomundi
Hotel Jerbourg
Maison

And huge thanks to Keith the quizmaster and John his lovely assistant without whom the quiz just wouldn't work at all.
Finally well done to this years quiz committee. Hard work and teamwork personified. Well done Julie, Tim, Brandon, Simon, Jackie, Sue, Brandon, Lenny, Elaine, Hazel and Rosemarie, and thanks.
